How to make a modpack server: Create, All the Mods and more with friends
A modpack is a lot of fun with friends, but the setup puts many people off. With the installer in the Panel you don't have to copy files by hand.

What to know first
- Version and mod loader: Every modpack is built for a specific Minecraft version and loader (Forge, NeoForge or Fabric). The server has to match exactly.
- RAM: Modpacks need a lot of memory. Light packs run from about 8 GB, big ones like All the Mods often only with 12 to 16 GB.
- Same version for everyone: All players need the same modpack version as the server.
Step by step at Navoryx
- Order a Minecraft server with enough RAM for your modpack.
- Open the Panel and on the left under
Minecraftgo toInstaller, tabModpacks. - Search for the modpack, for example Create or All the Mods, and choose the version.
- Click
Install. We switch the loader and Minecraft version, download all mods and apply the pack's settings. - Start the server. The first start of a modpack takes longer than usual, often several minutes.
Keep the backup on before installing. We move your previous mods into a separate folder and the world stays, but not every world fits every modpack.
Getting friends in
Your friends install the same modpack in the same version, easiest with the Modrinth app or the CurseForge launcher, launch it and connect to your server's address. If the version doesn't match, Minecraft shows which mods are missing or different when joining.
Common problems
- Server won't start, `OutOfMemoryError`: not enough RAM. Increase it in the customer area and restart.
- Players get kicked with mod errors when joining: the modpack version on their side and on the server differ.
- Lag after a while: big farms or many loaded chunks. Lowering the view distance and pre-generating the world often helps.
- Client mods on the server: Some mods (shaders, minimaps) only belong on players' PCs. Good modpacks ship a separate server version for that.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use CurseForge modpacks?
Our installer uses Modrinth, where most big modpacks are available. For a modpack that only exists on CurseForge, download its server pack and upload it via SFTP.
How much RAM for All the Mods?
For big packs like All the Mods we count on 12 to 16 GB, more with many players. You can increase the RAM at any time.
Is my world kept when switching modpacks?
The world stays, but blocks from mods missing in the new pack disappear. For a clean start, use a new world; with the backup you can always go back.
